Job Description

Primarily responsible for providing professional non-emergency transport for patients discharged from the hospital or Emergency Room. Primarily transports wheelchair bound or ambulatory patients to their residence or place of respite. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Houston Healthcare.

High school graduate or GED equivalent.

Completion of Emergency Medical Responder training program. Current Georgia EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) certification.

Valid Georgia driver's license. Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. CPT training within 9 months of hire.

The ability to physically lift and assist in the transport of patients. Ability to effectively communicate through oral and written means. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Establish and maintain working relationships with employees, volunteers, and management. Be able to think clearly and use independent judgment in the course of daily work. Be able to use and operate equipment such as a wheelchair lift and support devices in the Non-Emergency Transport Van. Familiarity to utilize and perform job duties in appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves, gown, and mask.

Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
